![]() This is currently just "yet another game", with no real focus from any media outlets even mentioning it to make it controversial, so it's entirely possible it will fly completely under the radar in the exact same way as a million other porn games have.īut the other part is that the game clearly isn't meant as anything other than porn, and most people just accept that porn is catered to a specific audience (namely, the people who find that content arousing). Part of the reason it's getting a pass is because it's not drawn any real attention. Turning our curious eyes toward the glittering stars speckled around our little blue planet, we have often asked ourselves the eternal question:Īre we alone in this universe? What is out there? More importantly… can we bone it?"Īt no point are they trying to make anything more than a game where the main focus is sex appeal, titilation, and giving the audience who desires it something to fap to. "Since the dawn of time, humankind has stared up at the cosmos with a mixture of trepidation and wonder. This game is making no pretence about what it's trying to be. What if they toned the game's content down even more to get a teen rating, but it was still a sexy waifu harem fantasy?.What if instead of an indie game, this game was made by an established western video game company with a multi-million dollar budget?.What if this game sells really well, and inspires a bunch of devs to make a bunch more games like this?.So for the people who hate that stuff, shouldn't a non-porn version of the game be better, not worse? If you think the answer is yes, an M rated version of this concept would be more controversial, does this really make sense? Removing the porn stuff means this game would have less sexual objectification, less titillation, less male gaze, not more. ![]() Would there suddenly be a culture war controversy over this? Would the people who want to make the game industry more inclusive of women, and more respectful of women, start to think this game is a big problem? Or would it still be considered perfectly OK to make and enjoy this type of video game? Then it would no longer have its immunity as a porn game. Society considers it perfectly OK to make and enjoy this kind of porn game.īut what if instead of the current porn game, they were making an M rated version of this same game? So it wouldn't show explicit sex scenes, but it would still be a 'waifu harem fantasy' story full of attractive women wearing revealing clothes who want the protagonist, and maybe some nudity. However, it seems everybody considers porn games to be immune from this type of criticism, So it seems like nobody is interested in criticizing or shaming this game for excluding and harming women. The team making this game has made rape porn video in the past. And who knows what other problematic content the final game will have. Some academic media theories would say this type of content will reinforce harmful ideas about real life women. It looks like it has the 'women as reward' trope, the 'lingerie is not armour' trope, male gaze, male fantasy, content designed by men to titillate a presumed straight male audience, and a lot of sexual objectification of women. I was wondering, if one thinks about the currently popular ideas on how western video games should handle women characters, and how those ideas would apply to this game, then this game goes against the current trends in western game design. And nobody seems to mind that it is on mainstream websites like kickstarter or steam. I'm not aware of any other porn games that look this ambitious. So there is this porn game that has been doing well on kickstarter lately. r/CoOpGaming - A community for co-op gaming r/xboxone - Xbox-specific subreddit for general Xbox news and discussion r/playstation, /r/PS4 & /r/PS5 - PlayStation-specific subreddits for general PlayStation news and discussion r/pcgaming - PC gaming-specific subreddit for general PC gaming news, discussion and gaming tech support r/nintendo - Nintendo-specific subreddit for general Nintendo news and discussion ![]() r/shouldibuythisgame - Find out what's worth getting. r/gamingsuggestions - Go here to help you find your next game to play r/gaming4gamers - Discussion, bar the Hivemind Top-level comments must be at least 100 characters in length.Accounts must be at least one month old.External Links must follow these guidelines No topics that belong in other subreddits This subreddit shouldn't be used for advice of any kind.
